Flat Rate Equipment had its beginning back in 1966 when Michael Carroll started his career as a mechanic at Mobil Lift as a forklift repairman.
With some job experience and exposure to various equipment types he moved on to become a shop foreman at Dean’s Equipment in Santa Fe Springs. Working on everything from trash trucks to tankers, forklifts and other heavy equipment, his career was really taking roots.
In 1975 he took a leap and purchased a truck deciding to start his own Mobile repair service. Then in 1982 he began sub-contracting to Ecology Auto Wrecking and eventually become their shop foreman. The shop worked on large loaders and bulldozers, freight and transit trucks, designed and built custom car smashers and specialty equipment involving hydraulics, electrical and mechanical systems. In 1982 Flat Rate Equipment Repair became an official industry name when a large shop was opened in Whittier California.
Over time Michael’s son Morgan was exposed to the Shop environment and began to show he had a mechanical mind as well. Spending summers working in his grandfathers auto parts store, Morgan learned how to run machine shop tooling and the art of customer service while selling over the counter. While in high school Morgan began working part time at Flat Rate as a mechanics helper, eventually graduating and starting his full time career as part of the family business.
Originally located in Whittier, Flat Rate then moved to Pico Rivera in 1997 and continues to serve it's customers with the same integrity, honesty and family principles the company was built on.
